Looking over the agenda and registered participants for tomorrow’s Making It Here 2012: Manufacturing Our Energy Future conference in Cleveland, OH, it’s hard not to get excited about what we will be able to do together to grow America’s energy future.  A small sampling of the some of the participating companies includes:

• ArcelorMittal- A leader in the steel industry, ArcelorMittal produces 100 million tons of steel a year and employs 260,000 people in 60 countries. Additionally the company states its “operating philosophy is to produce safe, sustainable steel, and reflects our deep commitment to protecting and improving the environment in which we work and live.”
• Astraeus Wind Energy- Based in Michigan, Astraeus Wind has dedicated itself to identifying “some of the major problems with wind turbine components” and designing “manufacturing solutions to the significant problems that currently impede wind as an energy source.” Already, the company has been able to cut 20 hours off the amount of time it takes a machine to “hub a wind turbine” part.
• DuPont- Although it is not always the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of DuPont, the company has over 25 years of experience in the development of PV materials, and its total sales in the photovoltaic market exceeded $1 billion in 2010.
• Exelon Wind- Exelon Wind, a business unit of Exelon Generation Company,  produces 895 megawatts of wind energy from its 38 projects located in Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon and Texas.
• Mage Solar USA- After expanding to the U.S. in 2009, MAGE Solar USA “offers optimally coordinated turn-key PV-solutions for residential, commercial, agricultural and utility scale applications.” The company’s POWERTEC PLUS modules carry a 10-year product warranty and a 30-year 80% performance guarantee.
• US Railcar- US Railcar Company, LLC is currently the only American-owned producer of self-propelled passenger railcars. The company currently designs both self-propelled and non-powered commuter coaches.
